Janice Clare Olson
For over 20 years, Jan Olson has coordinated weekly Community Suppers at Calvary Lutheran Church. Jan was on the Board of Directors of the Federal Way Community Caregiving Network while also serving on the Reach Out Leadership Team. She was as a key contact for hosting our program and meal service, as we first opened the men's shelter in January of 2009. Jan is without a doubt one of Federal Way's finest when it comes to concern and care for those who are poor, vulnerable, and suffering in our community.
Tyler Lum is an up and coming young leader. He served on the Advancing Leadership Fundraising (ALY) team which secured over $1,500 as part of a team project to inspire middle school students to become passionate about education and life. He plans to continue his work with ALY as well as devoting time to his new role as Decatur Junior Class President and the Robotics Team President. Tyler is also an Ignite Executive Mentor and continues to be apart of Decatur's Honor Society, Key Club and Tennis Team.
Reach Out is recognizing Tyler this year for his impact and support of the Rollermania fund raiser hosted by Reach Out. This event is designed to involve the youth of today in raising funds and awareness of the less fortunate in our community. As a student at Decatur High School Tyler helped recruit other teens to participate in Rollermania making this years Rollermania the most successful ever.
Tyler credits Dan Haegele, Jerry Korum and his parents for inspiring his driven attitude to make the community a better place. We believe Tyler is deserving of this year's award and will have a great impact on the future.
